Founded in 2006, Firewire Surfboards’ mission is to inspire and enhance the surfing experience through innovative, high quality surf products made with the least environmental impact. In 2016, eleven-time World Surfing Champion Kelly Slater launched his namesake Slater Designs brand, featuring a signature collection of surfboards and surf accessories made with a deep commitment to leadership in sustainability without sacrificing performance.  

Today, Firewire Surfboards and Slater Designs are distributed in more than 60 countries worldwide, offering leading designs by some of the world’s most talented surfboard designers in addition to a range of premium surf accessories essential to the surfing experience. 

We work with some of the best surfers and shapers on the planet, collaborating closely to refine every detail of performance and feel. Much of this development happens in  the shapers' personal and traditional shaping rooms where ideas are tested, refined, and pushed forward through hands-on feedback between surfers and shapers working side by side. 

Once a design is finalized, every board is produced in our fully owned and operated manufacturing facility. This end-to-end ownership allows us to maintain complete control over materials, processes, quality, and working conditions - ensuring consistency and accountability at every stage of production. We are not an outsourced manufacturing model. 

We are also continuously developing new materials and processes, including lower-impact resin systems, acetone-free production methods, and waste reduction initiatives in partnerships. These efforts are part of an ongoing commitment to improving how surfboards are made.
